Quick Paso Facts:
Paso Finos are a gaited horse of Spanish heritage, having been bred in Latin America since the days of the Conquistadors.

Paso Finos are naturally gaited, and the gaits are evident from birth.

Paso Finos have 3 gaits: the Classic Fino, Paso Corto, and Paso Largo.

The Classic Fino gait is used for showing. It is a fully collected gait with rapid footfall and very slow forward speed.

The Paso Corto gait is the most widely used gait, and is equal to a trot. The steps are ground covering, but not hurried, and performed with medium extension.

The Paso Largo gait is the fastest gait. It is performed with longer extension and moderate to minimal collection.

All 3 gaits are four beat lateral gaits, with the feet hitting the ground in a rapid, unbroken rhythm.

The four beats are even in cadence and impact, giving the rider a smooth and comfortable ride that is unequal.

The rider appears virtually motionless at all three Paso gaits.

Paso Finos can also walk, trot, canter, and gallop.

Not all Paso Finos display the Classic Fino gait.
